Mosaic Monday!

Good Monday Morning!

I have so many things to show you all this morning that I made a bunch of mosaics to fit them all in! Greg and I had such a great weekend. Friday night we went out with Greg's parents to Burgers and Beer. Yum. Saturday we slept in till forever and stayed in our pajamas almost all day :) Then we went and got dinner at PF Chang's with a gift certificate some friends had given us. Sunday we slept in again and relaxed and played all day...and to round out the weekend we made brownies and watched V. SO NICE. Aren't you all jealous?

{{{We spent some time dreaming of going here too. Oh wouldn't it be nice... Source: here.}}}

I also put some new items in my etsy shop! A kindle sleeve and an iPad sleeve:::

Have a great Monday everyone! See you tomorrow!

BFA Thesis Show

Good Morning Everyone!

As promised, today I'll post some images from my BFA Thesis Show in the art gallery at Biola University. I have to preface by saying that this documentation is not very good. I asked a friend to do it for me, cause I was obviously a bit busy that week, and he didn't get quite what I wanted. So, I apologize for the less than professional images. I'm only going to post a couple today so I can try to reshoot some in the next couple days to do my images better justice.

My photos are all silver gelatin prints. The images were taken in cemeteries in Italy. I also developed the film myself. In addition, I build the frames, cut the glass and the mats myself. I was the wood-shop technician my senior year so I was able to build my frames while I was at work. So nice.

{{{This last one is a friend of ours who served coffee at the opening! His company is Wild Goose Coffee Co. Greg is currently designing a website for him.}}}

That's all for now folks. I need to reshoot some images for my etsy shop this weekend so I'll reshoot the images from my show that I still have also and see if I can get them up on Monday. Have a great relaxing weekend everyone!

Featured Artist::: Tara Donovan

Good Morning Ya'll,

Today I'm happy to tell you about a very talented artist named Tara Donovan. She works with household items to create beautiful, ethereal scenes. These first images were the first of hers I saw of her work:

{{{This is made of Styrofoam cups!!}}}

It doesn't stop there though! These are just a couple of her other pieces.

{{{A block of toothpicks held together by friction and gravity}}}

{{{A wall of stacked clear plastic straws}}}

{{{Buttons...oh the glorious buttons!}}}

{{{All images found here: Ace Gallery}}}

Wasn't that fun?!?          ...Tomorrow I'll do a post about my senior show as promised. Sorry for the delay :)

Have a good afternoon!

Not As Planned

Good Morning Friends!

My work schedule is going to be changing as of today, I'm going to be working 3 long days a week instead of 5 short days. It wont really change much as far as the blog is concerned other than meaning that I will need to be a little more prepared with my posts.

Also, I have several large orders to work on from my etsy shop... things that take longer to put together than I thought they would... Eeek!

For now, check out these treasuries I made yesterday!

And here's some food for thought :)

Weird Fishes

Good Morning All!

Luna says good morning also:

I'm going to assume you've all heard of Radiohead, and if you haven't I'm going to assume you are going to go buy all their albums right now. Well their song, Weird Fishes, on their album In Rainbows {{{Both can be purchased on iTunes}}} has provided some interesting inspiration to me. When it first came out I was working on my senior thesis show for my BFA. I would listen to In Rainbows while in the darkroom and it helped me get though the long hours alone in the dark. If I knew how to post music here I would post the song, but for now you'll just have to go look it up. There's really no point to this story other than the opportunity to attach some images that for me, are connected with this song. :)

{{{Also taken by me}}}

{{{Green Sea Turtle from National Geographic}}}

{{{Pygmy Seahorse from Planet Earth on Discovery Channel}}}

Stay tuned, I'm thinking tomorrow I may do a post about my senior show. It could be a challenge since I have to go into work early, but we'll see.

Have a weird day!

Only one day left!

Good Morning Friends!

Sadly today is the last day of my mini vacation and I have not accomplished nearly as much as I would have liked! Eeep! I'm going to try and pack a lot into today, but I've had a huge knot in my back the past 2 days and its really slowed me down :( Pray for it to go away, its getting a bit ridiculous at this point.

First, I don't know how many of you have heard of the Sartorialist. But his blog is absolutely amazing. This is one of his recent posts and I love the image so much I just had to share it with you guys.

 {{{SUCH a cute outfit!!!!}}}

Second, my yellow wool merino got here! Yay! I bought it from Windrose on She was also kind enough to provide me with bunches of links to help me get started with my wool felting since I had no idea where to begin.

{{{Other than being excited about how soft the wool is, of course}}}

Third, I thought I'd share one of the Valentine's Day cards I made for Greg with you guys. I'm sorta proud of it, and I just like it so much I wanted you to see it also :)

{{{Sorry the photos are kinda dark}}}

I hope you all have a great and productive day!!

Featured Artist::: Lori Nix

Good Morning Fellow Appreciators of Beautiful Work!

I have the next 5 days off! WooHoo!! {I love my job} but I am SO excited about all the things I'm going to be able to get done! My to-do list is awfully long...I guess we'll see how far I get :)

Today I thought I'd introduce you to one of my favorite artist EVER. When I was getting my BFA I did some work with miniatures for a few semesters....I turned out to only be mediocre at it, mostly because my knowledge of how to set up lighting is pretty bad. When I say miniatures, I'm not talking about this new fad of "tilt shift" photography. I'm talking about actually setting up model scenes at say 1:48 scale, and photographing them with a giant macro lens. Pretty epic. If you know what you are doing. Perhaps I'll dig up a few of mine to show you, but for now I will show you someone who is the MASTER of miniature photography: Lori Nix. My hero. This is some of her work. To see more visit her web site.

I hope you enjoy her work as much as I do!

Now please don't compare my work to hers....mine is 100% amateur. And really not very good. But here is it anyway.

{{{This image is from a picture book I did called The Woeful Tale of Eva Milfred}}}

{{{This one is part of a much larger series titled "Why Boys Are Better Than Girls"...It was during this project I realized I didn't know enough about lighting to really accomplish what I wanted to. However, I didn't have enough time before graduation to take an extra class on lighting and finish the project.}}}

Have a nice day everyone!!

Just for Fun

Good Morning Friends!

I'm going to post a couple pictures from Valentine's as promised, but I also have a surprise! I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread...Greg wasn't too impressed though. We'll see what you all think!

This is the canopy I hung over our bed! I am super excited about it, and Greg seems to like it too :) How do you guys think it turned out?? {{{BTW all the specks on our bed are heart confetti :) }}}

This is part of the message-in-a-bottle scavenger hunt I set up for Greg! So fun.

This is Luna...he was pretty confused about what was happening. This is his, "Mommy what the hell are you doing?" face. Hehehehe....

AND NOW! I don't know if you can handle this. Its pretty exciting. NEW KETCHUP PACKETS!!!!!!

Both squeeze and dip capabilities in one tiny packet. Its a whole new world people, a whole new world.

SO cool. Are any of you as excited as I am about this?!?

And one more thing just for fun... I can't remember where this came from. I'll look for the source later. I'm pretty sure I found it on Etsy. But I love it. LOVE IT. I almost peed myself when I saw it cause I laughed so hard :)

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

New music... {well new to me}

Good morning everyone!

Sorry my posts have been so sketchy the last couple days. I've had a really bad cold that I'm still recovering from. PLUS I took the day off yesterday to decorate the apartment to surprise Greg! {{{pictures to come soon!}}} and for one final excuse, I had to go in to work extra early today so now I can't post pictures. So, today's post is about music.

Since Greg and I got married we have come across some awesome bands that we'd never heard of before. First there is Mumford And Sons. So good.

Next, The National {birds seem to really like this band...who knows why}.
Last, Radical Face. Their song Wrapped In Paino Strings is my new favorite. You should definitely listen to it, like right away.

Valentine's Day!

Good Morning Everyone!

This is Greg and I's first Valentine's as a married couple and let me tell you! I am SO excited! We decided instead of trying to get a reservation and beat the rush and all that stuff, we are going to do one of our favorite things: stay home together {!} and have a special home cooked meal. Lemon salmon, cheese risotto, salad, bread, wine.... yummy...

Since I have more preparing to do though I'm just going to post some fun pictures and be on my way! I hope all of you have a wonderful day no matter what your relationship status!
